Saint Silouan the Athonite

Today we commemorate Saint Silouan the Athonite. Silouan was born in 1866 in the Tambov region of Russia to pious parents. He thought of God, prayed, and felt drawn to the monastic life at a young age but his father advised him to serve in the military first. After a wild period in his youth, he dreamt of a
